Taken October 2, 2017, the first night after my husband and I survived the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. Hard to describe the emotions then and even to this day, but I continue to feel empowered and enlightened by the memory of this sunset and the following quote: "The sky takes on shades of orange during sunrise and sunset, the color that gives you hope that the sun will set only to rise again." Ram Charan
Taken at Huntsville State Park, about 45 minutes north of Houston, Texas. We needed to use our PlanIt! Pro app to "hunt" down where we should even see the Milky Way because it was so difficult to spot with the light pollution from Houston. The yellow/golden light above the trees in the middle of the picture is looking towards Houston. Definitely not as bright as at South Llano Park, but a beautiful park and enjoyed checking out the stars over the lake.
"It is not only fine feathers that make fine birds." Aesop. The male Painted Bunting is an amazing combination of colors. It is also known for its distinct call consisting of loud, clear and varied warbling phrases. Taken at South Llano River State Park, in Texas.
Came across this turtle perfectly balancing on a log in the water on one of our hikes at Huntsville State Park. It was a great reminder about the importance of finding balance in our lives. "When you have balance in your life, work becomes an entirely different experience. There is a passion that moves you to a whole new level of fulfillment and gratitude, and that's when you can do your best... For yourself and for others." Cara Delevingne
"We all have life storms, and when we get the rough times and we recover from them, we should celebrate that we got through it. No matter how bad it may seem, there's always something beautiful that you can find." Mattie Stepanek
Popular backyard bird in Texas, but I don't remember seeing a lot of them growing up in Michigan. This cardinal was scoping out the situation in South Llano River State Park, Texas. I just love the look he had when I took this! Doesn't it make you wonder what he was checking out?
These falls are in Lula Lake Land Trust - on Lookout Mountain in Georgia. The area is only open the first and third Saturday's of the month in order to help preserve the area. Beautiful sites and some excellent hiking including a steep decline to this magnificent waterfall!
